And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned
The Evangelism Ministry is one of the most active in the church and in the community. Every last Saturday of the month, members of this ministry are used by God to reach the community as they take God’s Word to the people. The church as a whole believes in the great commission our Lord commanded us to preach the gospel to all. This is done with the leading of the Holy Spirit
From time to time as directed by the Holy Spirit, the entire Church embarks on such outreach start from the pastor to the youngest child. At DHA, we believe it is one thing to preach the gospel from the pulpit to the regular Sunday congregation and different experience on the field taking the good news of the gospel to the people
In addition to the neighborhood outreach, the Evangelism team is equipping new converts by through faith building foundational classes. In these classes, doctrines of the Christian faith are thought. They are taken step by step through the core topics prayerfully selected to build on their experience. We are aware that their faith is strengthened by the Holy Spirit. The Bible says that faith cometh by hearing and by hearing the Word of God. This Ministry is also responsible in leading first time visitors to DHA who are ready give their lives to Christ with the “sinner’s prayer.” Members also follow up with such visitors to check on them and pray with them.
This is one of the most dynamic ministries of the church. We are amazed what God is doing with these youths and children. They are growing numerically and spiritually every year. Divine Hope Assembly has programs designed specifically for them. Every third Sunday of the month is the “Youth Sunday.” Except for the Sunday school and the sermon, they conduct the service. One of their peers even brings a brief word of exhortation for the church. Such an opportunity is a window to view the world of the youths in relation to the things of God. They are excelling in the technical department and also have their youth /children’s choir. Recently they completed an extensive purity class which focused on the acceptable lifestyles and conducts based on the Bible.
The Campus Ministry is another vision of Pastor Christopher Timi. He plans to keep the youths who have moved on to college involved with Kingdom matters.
Our mission is to praise, worship and glorify God through songs. Praise and worship help create the atmosphere reverence that usher in the Holy Spirit into the sanctuary, to enable the choir members grow spiritually through fellowship with one another and the commitment of their time and talent for God. Psalm 146: 2 says “While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.’’
The praise and worship team practice regularly on weekly basis. The team adhere strictly to its rules that any member that missed a practice will not minister during the the service.
Pray without ceasing. In everything, give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you, 1 Thess 5: 17-18.
We believe in the power of prayer. For us to withstand the wiles of Satan, prayer and the study of the Word have become part of our Christian experience at DHAI. The scripture says that men ought to pray always. Our Prayer Ministry has taken this challenge. These prayer warriors intercede for the Body of Christ, our individual families and our nation because the prayer of a righteous man availeth much. At DHAI there is nothing like “too much prayer.”
As water is to physical life, so also is prayer to spiritual life. Prayer allows our spiritual life to exist—without it, we wither and crumble inside. Jesus prayed frequently. He was never too busy to pray. He valued his time alone with his father and pursued it His whole life
MK 1:35 says: “Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there he prayed.”
He began and finished His earthly ministry with prayer. We are encouraged to follow his example.
Our Sunday School
The House Fellowship Bible Study is one of the ways the faith of the Saints at Divine Hope Assembly International is strengthened. The Washington metropolitan area has been been zoned into five groups to cover members of the church. Each zone has a leader who has the responsibility to diligently prepare to teach during the one-hour study session. Members are also expected to have study ahead of time so that they can effectively participate during the session. The scripture requires each believer to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Tim 2:15. God has been building up His people through these cell groups. Children and new converts continue to grow in grace as a result of these fellowships
The Sunday school held weekly at the Church from 10:00 am to 11: 00 am builds on the House Fellowship Bible Study as the same topics are studied. It also provides an opportunity for those who cannot attend the house fellowship. Since repetition is a proven teaching method, Sunday School teachers are encouraged to repeat, reemphasize and reiterate these topics. The Bible says that “Faith cometh by hearing and by hearing the Word of God” Romans 10:17. The format is interactive.
The participants are allowed to ask questions. Those questions that cannot be addressed right away due to the topic or time constraints are studied and addressed during the next study. Like the house fellowship, topics cover Christian biblical doctrines backed by relevant scriptural verses. The Sunday School teachers are required to stay within the format and control the class. We believe that the word of God is final, forever settled and the Bible is the sole authority for the believer and not subject to debate as flesh would do if allowed.
The ushering department of the church is the first point of contact on any given Sunday or special event. Based on the testimonies of some of our visitors at the church and our events, these servants of God are fulfilling their ministries. As with other ministries in the church, the ushers will continue to grow in grace. They help maintain orderliness in the sanctuary during services. They warmly welcome all church members and first time visitors to the church, ensure that they are properly seated and that the service runs without unnecessary disruptions.
This ministry is built on the core principle that the physical welfare of the believer is important just as the spiritual welfare is. Jesus was interested in both the spiritual and the physical welfare of his disciples and the multitude he ministered to. DHAI not only cares for the welfare of its members, as a church we reach out to our community to assist it within the means of our resources. The needy in the church and the community are cared for as the Lord directs.
